OVENS & MURRAY BOWLS CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Ernie Vanderwert represented Bright Bowls Club in the Ovens & Murray Champion of Champions held at Wangaratta on Sunday 23rd of February 2025.
There was a good turnout of our members to cheer him on.
Ernie played Terry Hallinan from Milawa in the first round and won 25/16 , in the second round he played Rickie Robinson from Beechworth and won 25/17 , then after lunch in the quarter final played Ian Brimblecombe from YMGCR and was defeated 12/25. Ernie although feeling disappointed should be proud of his bowling against Ian who is an experienced bowler for over 23 years and has won many titles in Ovens & Murray State events & also played in the Victoria side for 2 years.The finals are played on Sunday March 2nd at Wangaratta.

On Wednesday the 22nd of January 2025 Ernie Vanderwert the Club’s President welcomed players & spectators to the Annual Community Bowls competition which started a week late due to rain & storms the 1st week. There were 20 teams of some regulars from over the past years, but it was also very pleasing to see some new teams of players that have never played lawn bowls before. Comments at the end of the night from one team of almost all new players was “we had so much fun & we actually won our 2 games “
